September 17: Constitution Day and Freedom Week of the USA

Today, the USA celebrates Constitution Day and Freedom Week.

Both holidays were dedicated to the signing of the US Constitution on September 17, 1787. It is considered the oldest federal constitution in force in the world.

Since 1940, September 17, Constitution Day has been celebrated as “I am an American” Day. However, not so long ago this day became so important for Americans.

The purpose of such a combination of events is to encourage all Americans to study the Constitution.

Also among the notable celebrations on September 17: National Father’s Day, Forest Workers’ Day, Civil Defense Workers’ Day of Ukraine (Saviour’s Day) and Marathwada Liberation Day in the state of Maharashtra (India).
