The Cruise company introduced a new robotaxi for the transportation of passengers with limited physical capabilities. Already next year, the taxi can help such people.
This is reported by Ukrainian Pravda with reference to The Verge.
The vehicle is said to be a shuttle-sized version of Origin Cruise’s fully driverless cars, which lack traditional controls such as a steering wheel and pedals. It was also adapted for a retractable ramp and wheelchairs.
“Developing an unmanned vehicle that accommodates as many wheelchair users as possible is a unique technical challenge that has never been solved before,” the company notes.
The car is the product of three years of development and testing between Cruise, GM and its affordable car design partners at BraunAbility and Q’Straint.
