Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia in Ukraine Gela Dumbadze
Dear readers, ladies and gentlemen, dear friends and colleagues!
This year Ukraine celebrates the anniversary of its national diplomacy. 100 years ago on December 22nd 1918 the General secretariat for the international affairs of the independent Ukrainian State was set up. But today I would like to remind that next year 2018 we will celebrate another one joint anniversary — the 100 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Georgia.
On July 4th 1918 Prime-Minister of Georgia Noe Zhordania sent a letter to the head of the Ukrainian foreign policy minister Dmytro Doroshenko in a which he presented the authorized representatives of the Georgian Democratic Republic in Ukraine and in the beginning of the September of the year 1918 the diplomatic mission of Georgia started to fulfill its duties in Ukraine. The result of its activity was the elaboration by Georgian and Ukrainian colleagues the Ukrainian-Georgian Interstate Agreement of cooperation in the commercial, economic and political spheres. But the further development of the diplomatic relations between independent states was interrupted by the Bolshevik invasion…
Now the Ukrainian-Georgian relations are the stable and, in the same time, dynamically developing relations of strategic partners in the spheres of the economy, of the international policy, of the trade, of the tourism, of the culture and of the education. And I am, as a head of the diplomatic mission of Georgia in Ukraine, very pleased to partake in all these processes. Let me to wish for all of you peace and prosperity, and first of all, good health and happiness in the coming New Year 2018!
