Five countries of the EU came out for the fence of the import of Ukrainian grain

Ministers of Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria spoke in favor of extending the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain at a meeting in Warsaw.

Today, a joint position was signed regarding the need to continue precautionary measures regarding the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine after September 15, 2023.

It is known that one of the topics of the meeting was the discussion and exchange of opinions regarding the current situation on the agricultural markets, which has developed as a result of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the possibility of taking measures to reduce the negative consequences of the import of agricultural products from Ukraine.

“Today we talked about the difficult situation caused by the war. It caused the destabilization of agricultural markets in the frontline countries,” said Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Robert Telus after the talks.

All ministers unanimously emphasized that in the current difficult geopolitical situation, the unity and solidarity of European countries in the face of common challenges and threats is extremely important.

“Now we are faced with new dilemmas. According to the decision of the European Commission, we have to open the borders for goods from Ukraine on September 15. We will not open this border. If the European Commission does not extend the ban, we will do it ourselves. I am declaring this now,” he said. Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki.

“We must protect the interests of those who produce food products in our countries,” – noted all the participants of today’s meeting.
