Racing Director of Formula 1 and Delegate on Security of FIA (International Automobile Federation) Charlie Whiting conducted an inspection of the Baku City Circuit track on the eve of 2017 FORMULA 1 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX, to be held in Baku from 23 to 25 June.
Baku City Circuit (BCC) operating company, working in the intensive mode, provided the work so that all the basic preparatory work for the eighth stage of the World Cup in series of Formula 1 has been completed before conducting the inspection.
The inspection led by Charlie Whiting, that took place a few weeks before the world’s best riders will compete on the most fast-speed street track of F1, conducted an assessment of the quality of the track and facilities established along the route in order to ensure the readiness of Baku City Circuit before the second-ever Grand Prix. After careful review, Whiting gave a positive assessment:
“I am amazed at how much work has been done in a couple of weeks before the next F1 race in picturesque streets of the city highway of Baku City Circuit. I arrived to make sure that everything is ready for the Grand Prix. From the previous race a few questions are left that need to be taken into consideration, and so I’m here to make sure they are taken into account.
We spent a few hours walking around the track, studying each area and I was pleasantly surprised by how everything had been very well-organized. Thus, the track is maximally ready and organized to have a race this year.
Like many in F1, I look forward to returning to Baku for the second Grand Prix when Formula 1 race cars will compete in one of the impressive tracks of the championship.
