In the European countries located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, the greatest heat for the summer of 2023 begins. There is a possibility that it may break record temperatures in the coming days.
This is reported by the BBC.
Temperatures are expected to exceed 40°C in parts of Spain, France, Greece, Croatia and Turkey, while Italy could reach 48.8°C. So far, a red alert has been issued in ten Italian cities, including Rome.
The first victims of this phenomenon are already known: a 44-year-old worker who applied road markings died in the hospital, and tourists who died due to the heat. Today, people are advised to drink at least two liters of water a day, and to avoid coffee and alcohol, which dehydrate the body.
The Italian Meteorological Society nicknamed this heat wave “Cerberus” after the three-headed monster depicted in Dante’s “Inferno”.
