Against the backdrop of recent Koran-burning campaigns, those entering Denmark from Sweden will now be selectively screened. Control at the border with Germany will also be strengthened.
On July 24, the Danish far-right anti-Islam extremist group Danske Patrioter (“Danish Patriots”) held an action with the burning of the Koran in front of the Iraqi embassy. And this is not the first burning of the holy book. Not so long ago, the Koran was burned at a rally in Sweden. In addition, protesters set fire to the Swedish embassy in Baghdad.
Therefore, it was decided to strengthen border control at least until August 10. Visitors from Sweden and Germany will be checked selectively.
As DW reports, control over passengers arriving at the ferry ports of Gedser and Redbyhavn is being tightened. There are ferries from Rostock and Puttgarden in Germany.
The basis for the decision to strengthen control at these borders was the recommendations of the Security and Intelligence Service.
