A new bill has appeared in the Verkhovna Rada, which talks about the introduction of a new holiday – Thanksgiving Day.
It is proposed to be celebrated on October 22.
“The autumn season, rich in the harvest of vegetables and fruits, will contribute to the introduction of the tradition of celebrating this holiday at the festive (family) table. The world celebrates October 22 as the Day of Changes for the Better. The holiday “National Make A Difference Day” is dedicated to people being able to change the world for the better through joint efforts, help others and make life better, which is logically combined with the idea of Thanksgiving Day,” the explanatory note reads.
This draft law was introduced by the People’s Deputy of Ukraine. Previously, it was George Mazurasha who suggested changing the text of the anthem to a more “positive” one.
As noted in the document, the purpose of the draft law is to form in Ukrainian society and consolidate at the national level such an important positive trait as gratitude, and, accordingly, the tradition of expressing gratitude to everyone who deserves it.
It is worth noting that this idea does not require the allocation of additional funds from the state budget.
If the bill is supported, “Thanksgiving” could become an official holiday.
