The German manufacturer is sounding the alarm: such a difficult situation has not existed for 50 years. Possible price increases or the absence of the product in general on the shelves this year.
The reasons were changing weather and a bacterial plant disease – greening of citrus fruits.
“We found ourselves in the most difficult situation in more than 50 years. The current crop failure in the US and historically low orange stocks in Brazil have led to a unique, i.e. critical market situation. As a result, the availability of orange juice concentrate is currently very limited,” said Klaus Heitlinger, head of the German Association of Fruit Juice Producers.
In general, it is known that by June 2023, the reserves of orange juice concentrate have practically been exhausted.
