Germany and France opposed the continuation of restrictions on the export of Ukrainian grain to Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria.

RBC-Ukraine writes about this with reference to a message from AFP.

On July 24, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi commented on the plan to extend restrictions on the export of Ukrainian grain as absolutely unacceptable and frankly anti-European.

This position was supported by the EU countries, particularly Germany and France, at the meeting of the bloc’s agriculture ministers in Brussels.

Even earlier, the Minister of Agriculture of Germany, Cem Ozdemir, stated the following: “Many countries depend on grain from Ukraine. Therefore, we must do everything possible to restore the “grain agreement”. At the same time, we must help Ukraine export grain from the country so that it gets to places where it is urgently needed.”

At the meeting, he said that the European Commission should make it clear that any extension of the restriction is impossible. He also added that internal political disputes in Poland on the eve of the elections, which will be held later this year, should not be played out “on the back of Ukraine.”

In turn, the Minister of Agriculture of France Marc Fesneau said that there can be no unilateral measures, “no individual adventures, only a collective response to the challenge of destabilizing markets.”

As European Pravda notes, the spokeswoman of the European Commission, Miriam García Ferrer, also stated that Brussels is working “very intensively” with the five EU member states and Ukraine, trying to find a solution.
