President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Aaron Wess Mitchell.
The parties thoroughly discussed a complex of issues of Ukraine-USA bilateral relations and coordinated priorities within their enhancement in the best interests of the two parties and joint protection and promotion of freedom and democracy, the rule of law and human rights.
The importance of new approaches and bold initiatives for the replenishment of strategic partnership between Ukraine and USA was noted – from the enhanced political, trade-economic and energy interaction to the intensification of defense and security partnership between the parties.
The interlocutors discussed the course of reforms in Ukraine. The President noted significant changes Ukraine had achieved. “I am confident that there is no country in the world that has introduced such a number of reforms in various spheres in war conditions. And we enjoy a solid support of the United States for our reforms,” Petro Poroshenko stressed adding that it was a confirmation of our strategic partnership.
Petro Poroshenko thanked the American side for its assistance and significant contribution to the development of a new Ukrainian army under the Russian aggression.
The Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs emphasized the importance of his visit to Ukraine. Aaron Wess Mitchell assured that USA would further support Ukraine in its endeavors to develop and strengthen the country, as well as in the further coordination of efforts aimed to ensure a reliable and efficient international support for our state.
“What you and your team has achieved in a very short period of time is remarkable. It is phenomenal that so much has been made over the past three years,” he stated.
The Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs confirmed willingness to keep on supporting Ukraine’s efforts on the restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and, if necessary, to increase the price of the continuation of aggression against the Ukrainian state for Moscow.
