Celebration of the 26th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine in Kenya

The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Kenya held a reception on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine.

High-ranking officials from Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other state institutions, representatives of the diplomatic corps, business associations, as well as the Ukrainian community joint the celebrations.

In his speech Ambassador of Ukraine to Kenya H.E. Mr. Yevhenii Tsymbaliuk emphasized that this day, which is commonly known as liberating itself from the 72-year Soviet imperious grip, had in fact continued a thousand-year history of Ukraine’s nation and statehood, which is at this moment being threatened by the on-going Russian aggression.

The Ambassador of Ukraine also expressed confidence that the commitment to good relations with Kenya, that has been manifested across the entire political spectrum in Ukraine, will develop even stronger partnership and will promote mutual interest on the multilateral agenda.

The chief guest from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya in her speech reaffirmed the importance of deepening cooperation between the two countries and thanked the Government of Ukraine for its contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation in the areas of political interaction, including within international organizations, in trade, agriculture and education.

Earlier the President of the Republic of Kenya H.E. Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta had sent a congratulatory letter to the President of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Petro Poroshenko on the occasion of the Independence of Ukraine.
