British Defense Minister Ben Wallace calls for investment in tanks, not in increasing the number of troops.

The UK will allocate an additional 2.5 billion pounds to defence, namely army supplies and munitions, as part of the updated Defense Document. The purpose of this document is to increase the combat readiness of the British Armed Forces, to strengthen its rapid response force. Equally important, they believe, is to pay more attention to science and technology to gain an advantage on the battlefield.
Taking into account the lessons of the war in Ukraine, the document outlines a plan to create a “reliable fighting force” that will allow London to “act as a global heavyweight both now and in the future”. It is also about modernization and adaptation to the “changing global picture”.
The British Defense Minister believes that tanks are a fundamental part of the army. The army must be “perfectly formed” based on the situation in Ukraine. Therefore, according to him, Ben Wallace will invest in them.
“We need tanks, we shouldn’t write them off. But whatever tanks we have, we have to invest in them to make sure they are properly defensive, they can be properly deployed and maintained,” the minister said.
