In the capital of Ukraine, a commemoration of Georgiy Gongadze and all murdered Ukrainian journalists took place in Illinsky Square, timed to the 23rd anniversary of the murder of the Ukrainian journalist.

The video broadcast of the action was published on the Facebook page of the ZMINA Human Rights Center.

It is also known that the action was organized by the Georgy Gongadze Prize in partnership with ZMINA and the Institute of Mass Information.

As Detector media notes, during the event it was mentioned:

  • Georhiy Gongadze’s contribution to the fight against Russia’s aggressive foreign policy, which it has been conducting against neighboring countries for many centuries;
  • about Ukrainian and foreign journalists killed by Russian troops since the beginning of the invasion of the territory of Ukraine;
  • about the crimes and oppression against citizen journalists committed by the occupying Russian authorities in the occupied Crimea and other territories temporarily not controlled by Ukraine.
