October 10: World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day has been celebrated for 11 years in a row in different countries of the world.

It was introduced at the initiative of the World Federation of Mental Health in 1992.

As noted by the online publication “DilovaMova.com”, the purpose of this Day is to reduce the prevalence of depressive disorders, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, drug addiction, epilepsy, mental retardation, the number of psychotropic substance use and suicides, issues and problems of helping people suffering from mental disorders disorders, dissemination of information about effective methods for prevention, medical treatment and prevention of mental disorders, social adaptation.

Therefore, on World Mental Health Day, events aimed at spreading knowledge about effective methods of strengthening mental health and preventing mental diseases are organized.

October 10 is also the European Day Against the Death Penalty.
