The Cabinet of Ministers decided to dismiss Oleg Kotenko from the position of Commissioner for the Issues of Persons Disappeared Under Special Circumstances.

This was announced by the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers, Taras Melnychuk, in his Telegram channel.

Back on September 13, Kotenko announced that he was resigning. The reason for this decision was the limitation of his powers by the government of Ukraine.

The following was also decided:

  • negotiations with the Russian Federation on the return of the bodies will now be conducted by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
  • the activities of search groups will be transferred to the General Staff of the Armed Forces;
  • work with the Unified Register of Missing Persons (created by Kotenko) will be conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
