On March 22, a joint exhibition of Ukrainian artist Zoia Skoropadenko and Japanese artist from Fukushima Tatsuro Suzuki “Chernobyl and Fukushima Landscapes and Flowers” was opened at the Embassy of Ukiraine in Japan.
The main purpose of the exhibition is to convey the beauty of the territories affected by nuclear power plant accidents and show their aspiration for the soonest recovery.
The event was attended by more than 70 people, including representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Tokyo and Fukushima art and business circles as well as mass media and Ukrainian community in Japan.
During the opening of the exhibition the Ambassador of Ukraine I.Kharchenko noted that, despite various difficulties, life in the affected areas continues, so it is very important to have positive thinking and look into the future with the hope for the best. The Ambassador also noted that Ukraine and Japan are the only countries in the world that suffered nuclear accidents, therefore they should help and support each other.
The ceremony was also marked byappearance of Ukrainian bandura musician Nataliya Gudziy who performed her original song written for the verses of T.Shevchenko.
Exhibition will include the Charity project “Okiagari Koboshi” by renown Japanese designer Kenzo Takada.
It will be opened at the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine until October 15, 2018.
